Sat. 1 April. Morning Tea Cruise. Meet at the Wheel of Brisbane at 9.45am.Be a tourist of our own backyard, as the saying goes.. Enjoy a trip on the beautiful Brisbane River while indulging in a delicious Devonshire Tea and hearing all about our wonderful city’s history. Price includes one and a half hour River Cruise, Devonshire Tea, Complimentary Souvenir Map. Departs from the special River City Cruises terminal in front of the Wheel of Brisbane, South Bank. Sat. 8 April. Free Guided Walks @ Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha Rd, Toowong. Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha. Walks are taken at a gentle pace for about one hour. Have lunch at noon, then take the guided walk at 1pm. Carpooling available from 11am.  Bookings required by 6 April by contacting Heather on 0448-335910 by Thu 6th April for carpooling at 11am.

Wed. 12 April.  Coffee Evening @ Sandgate Coffee Club (at the roundabout). Starts 6pm. Contact George on 0457-979931 before 5pm on the day so he can ensure enough table room for all. (Please phone if no response to a text, as Apple seems to have some text / message reception problems lately.)

Fri. 14 April. Moogerah Passion Play. George, the contact person, writes, “The gates open at 4pm and admission is free (donations welcome), bring a hamper or food available onsite. Check out photos of previous years on the Moogerah Passion Play website. I’ll be leaving at 2pm and will have room for three (BYO easy chair and rug). The Show finishes at 8pm so let’s say home by 10:30pm.  If you are going to go then let George know on 0457-979931 by 10 April so we can work out car-pooling arrangements.

Fri. 14 – Mon. 17 April. Easter Convention @ Mt Tamborine Conference Centre. Accommodation filling fast. At least 3 PCS members so far are going for the whole weekend. Sat. 29 April. Games Evening @ Bracken Ridge Baptist Church 47 Norris Rd, Bracken Ridge. Do something different for once! Bring your board games – Pictionary, Scattergories, Trivial Pursuit, Chinese Checkers, Rummykins, Upwords, Chess, Dominoes, Charades etc. Nibbles, tea/coffee provided. Sat. 6 May. The Beach Boyz. @ The Redcliffe Cultural Centre. Cost $35. The diverse talents and abilities of the Beach Boyz have combined to form a 100% live experience that brings to life the sights and sounds of the legendary Beach Boys. The Beach Boyz’ ability to create a stunning visual and audible performance has led to sell-out shows across Australia. Sat. 13 May. Social Tennis @ either the Deagon Courts or Coops Courts at Carseldine. Enjoy a hit around the court.  Bookings required by 11 May by contacting Madaleine. The venue and time will be definite when final numbers are known.

Sat. 20 May. O’Reilly’s Rainforest Tree-top Walk @ Lamington National Park. Allows you to walk through a canopy of flowering and fruiting trees covered by vines whilst you explore the epiphytic orchids and ferns surrounded by the many birds and animals that inhabit the tree tops. The Tree Top Walk, was the first of its kind in Australia, is 180 metres in length and is made up of nine suspension bridges, with much of the walkway being 15 metres above the ground. Profiles depicting the rainforest flora close by have been placed along the walkway to assist visitors in identifying the plants in the immediate vicinity. Two observation decks have been constructed in a Strangler Fig above the walk way, the highest one being 30 metres (approximately 110 feet) above the ground. The Tree Top Walk is a unique and innovative structure that gives visitors what can only be described as an exhilarating experience – a chance to observe life in the rainforest canopy at close range for the first time in their lives. Free of charge and there is no age restriction. However it’s a 2 hour plus drive so let’s carpool at 7am.  Bookings required by 18 May by contacting George on 0457-979931.

Sat. 27 May. Committee Mtg @ Fish on Flinders, Sandgate. Committee members only please. Starts 3.30pm. THEN Fish and Chips on the Sandgate Esplanade @ Fish on Flinders, 196 Flinders Pde, Sandgate. Starts 5pm. Afterwards a walk along the esplanade. Bookings required for both by 25 May by contacting Heather on 0448-335910.

Fri. 2 June. Archè, by the Melbourne Ballet Company. A ballet based on the age old classic, Swan Lake. “Exquisite”. Starts 7.30pm. Cost. $40. Contact Heather on 0448-335910 regarding her seat number then buy your own ticket nearby by phoning Redcliffe Cultural Centre on 07-3283-0407 ASAP.

Fri.9 – Mon. 12 June.  Halls Gap Club Solo Camp @ Norval Conference Centre, Halls Gap.  Cost $365.  The speaker is Club Solo’s Director, Rev Steve Mitchell.  Bookings are required by 2 June.  Click Halls Gap to download the brochure.
